Stonework Play

Local artist, Diana Suskind, led a workshop on “Stonework Play”, a form of creative storytelling with stones. This is a wonderful art form because the weight, form and texture of each stone suggests artistic choices that result in original, imaginative and personal creations. “Stonework Play” helps the artist, no matter what age and ability, explore and express emotions, thoughts and feelings through stone arrangements and the stories they evoke. During this workshop, each participant selected their stones and arranged them to tell a story. They drew their stonework creations on paper and wrote a story about their work, which they read aloud to the group. Pictured is Gabriel arranging his stones to tell a story about a butterfly.

This workshop was supported in part by a grant from the Leominster Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
